HBO’s Last Week Tonight show decided to take on the controversy of Mount Everest’s deadliest season and crowded conditions. As part of the show, John Oliver gave his audience a chance to join him at the top by going to thetopofmounteverest.com.
Incubeta Joystick partnered with HBO to build this user generated content site which gave visitors the opportunity to upload photos of themselves along with a friend, pet or loved one at the top of Mount Everest. Fans could choose from four photo ops, upload photos, complete the caption and share it out on social. The site was promoted on the show and Twitter which received an amazing response. Fans contributed to the show’s humor, posting that they were the first of their kind to climb Mount Everest, some claiming they didn’t even need a sherpa.
